What Are Pressure Gauges in HVAC?

In the field of HVAC, a pressure gauge is a specialized instrument that measures the pressure of water, refrigerants, and fluids. Pressure gauges play a vital role in the HVAC sector, as they are essential for monitoring the flow pressure of chilled water, refrigerants, and various fluids.

In chiller plants, pressure gauges are used to track chiller water pressure, while in Direct Expansion (DX) units, they monitor refrigerant pressure. Pressure gauges come in both analog and digital formats. Digital gauges are typically employed for precise pressure measurements but require external power sources, such as electricity or batteries, to operate.

The most commonly used pressure gauges are analog or dial gauges. These traditional gauges utilize mechanical components to measure pressure. While they may not be as accurate as digital versions, they do not require external power sources and are more capable and durable under high pressure.
