START CAPACITOR

WHAT IS A START CAPACITOR IN HVAC?
In an air conditioning system, the start capacitor is the initial type that delivers the first surge of electrical energy necessary to start the compressor or motor. After the motor or compressor is successfully running, a run capacitor takes over to ensure consistent operation.
Typically, the start capacitor is switched out of the circuit once the motor reaches a specific speed.
Application:
- Air conditioning motors and compressors
- Commercial freezer hermetic compressors
- HVAC systems, including FCU (Fan Coil Unit) and AHU (Air Handling Unit) single-phase motors
Capacity Range:
Start capacitors are used in various applications based on the required initial torque. The typical capacity range available in the market spans from 70 mfd to 330 v mfd according to specific applications.
Generally, air conditioners and freezers operate on start capacitors of 80/100 mfd and 100/120 mfd.
Recommended Brands:
We recommend reputable manufacturers such as L&T, Havells, Tibcon, Whirlpool, Godrej, and Keltron. However, options from local manufacturers can also be considered.

Our customized approach ensures you get solutions that truly fit your operations.
What common AC problems do you address?▼
We handle issues like water leakage (caused by clogged drains or trays), poor airflow (due to dirty filters or fan faults), and cooling failures (caused by refrigerant leaks, outdoor unit problems, or electrical issues). Our expert technicians ensure quick, lasting fixes for all major and minor problems.
How can I reduce AC energy consumption?▼
We recommend regular servicing, using the timer function, keeping rooms sealed, and setting the temperature to 24 °C for maximum efficiency. Upgrading to inverter ACs with higher star ratings is also an effective long-term solution for reducing energy bills.
What is the lifespan of an AC system?▼
On average, centralized HVAC systems last 10–15 years, while room or split AC units run efficiently for 3–6 years under normal daily usage. With regular servicing and proper care, their lifespan can be extended.
