ADHESIVE BOND

ADHESIVE BOND

What is Adhesive in HVAC Insulation?

In the context of HVAC insulation, adhesives are substances utilized to bond insulation materials—such as fiberglass, foam board, or reflective insulation—to different surfaces like ducts, pipes, and equipment. These adhesives are essential for creating a strong and lasting connection between the insulation and the surface.

Characteristics of Adhesives Used in HVAC Insulation:

  • High Bond Strength: Adhesives must possess high bond strength to ensure a reliable and long-lasting bond.
  • Temperature Resistance: They should be capable of withstanding high temperatures, typically up to 200°F (93°C).
  • Moisture Resistance: Adhesives must resist moisture due to exposure to humid environments.
  • Low VOC: They should emit low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to maintain good indoor air quality.

Synthetic rubber adhesive is the most commonly used type in the HVAC industry. For high-quality applications, we recommend brands like “Fevicol Duct King” or “Speb7.” For moderate use, consider options such as “Super Bond” or “Star Bond.”

Note: This is merely a suggestion; please choose the adhesive that best fits your specific application needs.
