What is a Ball Valve Actuator?
In an HVAC system, a ball valve actuator is a device that automates the operation of a ball valve, enabling remote or automated control of fluid flow. This component is commonly used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
A ball valve actuator is a mechanical device that operates a ball valve using a power source, which can be electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic. These actuators are available in various voltage ranges, including 220V AC and 12V or 24V DC. They are typically utilized in low-volume pipelines with diameters of less than 4 inches.
The actuator receives signals from a control system (such as a thermostat) and uses these signals to adjust the ball valve's stem, rotating the ball to either open or close the valve, thus regulating fluid flow.
Ball valve actuators are most commonly found in various Fan Coil Units (FCUs) with a maximum capacity of 5 tons.
