What is a Butterfly Valve Actuator?
In an HVAC system, a butterfly valve actuator is a device that automatically manages the opening and closing of a butterfly valve. It typically operates using electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic power to regulate fluid flow, such as chilled water or air.
Butterfly valves feature a disc-shaped element, known as the "butterfly", which rotates to control the flow of fluids. These heavy-duty actuators are specifically designed for applications where water pressure and flow volume is high. These valves are usually used in pipelines with diameters above 4 inches.
Butterfly valve actuators are available in various voltage ranges, including 220V in AC current and 12V & 24V in DC current. You can choose the appropriate voltage type based on the operating voltage of your HVAC control panel.
