Temperature Sensors in HVAC
Temperature sensors play a crucial role in monitoring and regulating the climate based on the predetermined temperature within a space. Several types of commonly used temperature sensors in HVAC include the following:
Room Sensors
Room sensors are the first type of temperature sensors designed to measure the real-time temperature of a space. Their primary function is to monitor room temperature and communicate with the HVAC control system to adjust the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning accordingly.
Coil Sensors
A "coil sensor" in an air conditioner is a compact temperature sensor positioned near the evaporator coil. Its purpose is to measure the temperature of the air flowing over the coil, enabling the AC unit to adjust its cooling cycle according to the current air temperature. This helps maintain the preferred room temperature set on the thermostat. In essence, it signals the system when to activate or deactivate the compressor to achieve the optimal cooling level.
